Meet the Team

Get to know the team behind Tech Between the Lines.

Justin - Founder of Tech Between the Lines

Justin Scharlemann

Justin Scharlemann is the founder and editor of Tech Between the Lines, an independent Apple-focused publication built on the belief that good technology coverage should inform, challenge, and respect the reader's intelligence.

By day, Justin is a Senior Desktop Engineer at Staples, where he has spent 14 years working across multiple roles managing enterprise technology at scale. That background shapes how he reads Apple's moves: less from the perspective of a spec sheet, more from someone who understands what it actually means to deploy, support, and live inside a technology ecosystem every day.

He launched Tech Between the Lines as a passion project and has grown it into a publication with a clear editorial voice and a growing team of contributors covering Apple design, AI, and the broader tech landscape.

Justin lives in Colorado with his wife and kids. When he's not writing or wrangling endpoints, he's somewhere in the Colorado outdoors.

Brad Thomas - Editor.

Brad Thomas

Brad is a product designer and UX/UI Principal at the Electric Power Research Institute, a 30-year Apple enthusiast, and an Apple shareholder. He approaches technology the way designers do: always asking not just what a product does, but whether it's solving the right problem in the right way. His journalism background runs deep. Over 25 years he's written for FOX Sports, Yahoo Sports, and the Salisbury Post, managed a credentialed Carolina Panthers media presence, and served as senior graphic designer for the Charlotte Hornets.

Hayden Bond - Contributor

Hayden Bond

Hayden is the founder of Plate Lunch Collective, an AI search optimization agency based in Hawaii. His professional world sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, search behavior, and how people discover things in an era when buyers ask ChatGPT or Perplexity instead of typing into a search bar. He watches on-device AI adoption and AI monthly active user data the way others track product spec leaks.
