Editorial Standards

The rules Tech Between the Lines holds itself to, written down so you can hold us to them too.

Tech Between the Lines is an independent publication about Apple and the technology around it. These are the rules we work by, written down so you can hold us to them.

Where our facts come from

Facts about Apple products and software start with Apple: release notes, support documents, apple.com and Apple Newsroom. Version numbers, settings, menu paths, prices and dates are checked against Apple's own wording before we publish. When we rely on reporting from another outlet, we name it and link to it.

If we can't verify a claim, we leave it out or say plainly that it is unconfirmed.

Rumors and leaks

Our articles don't run leaks or rumors. When an unconfirmed report is worth discussing, it appears in The Cupertino Chronicles, our weekly newsletter, clearly labeled as unconfirmed, so you always know the difference between what Apple has said and what people expect.

Reviews

We review products after using them in real daily life, not from a spec sheet. A product sent to us for review never comes with a promised outcome, rating or publish date. Our full method is on How We Test.

Independence from sponsors and partners

Sponsors and affiliate partners never see coverage before it is published and have no say in what we write. Sponsored placements are always labeled Sponsored. Affiliate links help pay for the site, and a commission never decides what we recommend. Details are on our Affiliate Disclosure and Work With Us pages.

How we use AI tools

We use AI tools to help research, draft and check our work, the same way we use any other tool. They never replace these rules: every fact still has to trace back to Apple or a named source, and the editor is responsible for everything published under the Tech Between the Lines name.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so at the end of the article. See our Corrections policy, and tell us about an error at contact@techbetweenthelines.com.

Who is responsible

Justin Scharlemann is the founder and editor of Tech Between the Lines and is accountable for everything we publish. You can meet the rest of the team on Meet the Team.
